2008 StoneFit Pro Women's Conference Highlights
-- 16 accomplished speakers, including top professionals in the sports journalism, PR/marketing, and sports management fields, and women athlete entrepreneurs, covered important career building topics. Some themes discussed include transitioning from competition to career, making money in women's sports, marketing yourself and owning your own brand, media tips on for sharing your story in the spotlight, and whether to manage yourself or hire an agent.
-- Both mornings of the conference, participants had the opportunity to train with San Francisco CrossFit coach and owner Kelly Starrett, getting a taste of the CrossFit philosophy. The workouts emphasized how to train efficiently and how to increase strength and flexibility in order to avoid injuries.
"The women's conference was inspired by my experience traveling with themUS Ski Team
and Women's Pro Tour surgeon throughout the 90's. I have always been amazed
at the incredible talent, kindness and beauty of female athletes, and
disappointed in their opportunitiesfor career development."

Feedback from Conference 2008 Participants
"How important it is to bring along the next generation of girls so that women athletes can really be at the table in all of the areas discussed this weekend — performance & competition, viewership, payscale, media coverage, etc. Events like this will help make this a reality, and it was an honor for us to participate."
-- Alison Overholt, Editor EXPN Magazine, Sr. Editor ESPN The Magazine: Action Sports
"One more mahalo and mazel tov for yesterday’s conference. It was the best meeting I've attended for many a day, many a year."
-- Jules Older, Ski Press, Editor in Chier
"We were so fortunate to spend these two days in the presence of real heroes and champions of sport, all of which were women. I look forward to taking the tools from this conference with me and passing them on to the many people in my life that inspire me everyday to be the best that I can possibly be. Here are some things that really hit home for me after attending this conference:
1.No one thing or moment can define you as an athlete, what makes you who you are is your ability to live your life passionately.
2. Work hard at your own marketability.
3. Separate yourself from the pack.Tell your story. Do your research, figure out what you are worth.
4. Don't take "No" for an answer. Put yourself out there constantly.
5. Wake up everyday knowing that you have NOT arrived. There is always more for you to give, more for you to achieve, more for you to create."
-- Shelley Olds, Cyclist
"It was so great to meet you as well! Thank you so much for putting on such an incredible event. What inspired to put such an incredible amount of energy into us ladies? Because really, this couldn't of happened without you! I learned so much!"
-- Pip Hunt, Big Mountain Skier, Powder Magazine
"I can’t tell you how inspiring I found the entire weekend. Such a great group of girls, and such a wonderful idea. I hope this is something we can stay involved with for a very long time. And it’s really neat and humbling to know that something I said was inspiring to these girls. The weekend was really just such a great experience. Thank you for putting it together."
-- Alyssa Roenigk, Sr. Writer ESPN The Magazine
"I appreciate your introduction to the group you brought together. The conference truly was amazing, I look forward to continuing my involvement. I have received a few notes from the girls, and aim to build on the momentum and support that I offered as a speaker."

"Wow, what an amazing event! Thank you for the invite and the opportunity to participate. I left Friday night with my own personal "take-aways" and was struck by the incredible enthusiasm and professionalism of the participants, as well as the insightful guidance and "real" advice provided by the panelists. You did a great job of creating an open, friendly, and welcoming environment where all who attended were at ease and engaged. I'd love to be involved in participating or organizing future events should you decide to go another round!"

"I just wanted to say "thank you" for hosting the conference - it was truly incredible! I am completely overwhelmed at the emails I have received in the past couple days - at least 15. You all have changed some perspectives, kicked butts in gear (including mine), and made a positive impact in their lives. What a great gift to these amazing girls/women. Thank you again for letting me be a part of it."
